What Are the System-Oriented Natural Science?
The type of natural sciences that will be needed in the 21st Century will not be the product of a further, continuous, straight-line development of the natural sciences existing up to the present time. Rather, they will constitute a new type of natural science that will be created involving a large number of areas of science that merge and develop in new inter-relationships built around a nucleus of information science. These new sciences are called the "Systems-Oriented Natural Sciences."
Expansive Areas of Study and Multiple Faculty Advisers
Students studying in the field of the Systems-Oriented Natural Sciences will receive instruction and guidance from a multi-discipline faculty staff that will cover a wide number of subjects that include mathematics, information science, physics, chemistry, biology, exercise and sports physiology, dietetics, etc. divided into four different combined discipline areas staffed by multiple faculty instructors. As a general principle, a given course will have a single course instructor, but students will be able to seek direct advice in all related discipline areas.
A Separately Functioning Graduate School
Our Graduate School of Natural Science is the independent graduate course that does not have a specific department. We have a general policy of admitting a wide variety of qualified students so that the student body includes students with liberal arts backgrounds and with science and engineering backgrounds plus students from society at large and foreign students. The widely varying backgrounds and personal knowledge of these students provides an environment that results in stimulating creativity that is an important driving force in the development of this frontier in the history of knowledge.
Flexible Curriculum
In order to cope flexibly with students from highly varying backgrounds, lecture series are held both during the day and in the evening. The curriculum also has other special features. The method of studying closely related groups of subjects simultaneously results in helping the student achieve a high level of basic knowledge and abilities with regards to these subjects enabling the student to choose one of the four specialist level areas concerning which he/she can select clearly defined objectives for further study. In addition, based on selection of related subjects, it is possible to expand the breadth of the areas studied or to concentrate on in-depth study of specific areas.
High Instructor-to-Student Ratio
The number of Master's Program students admitted for a school year is 15. This makes it possible to receive in-depth contact with faculty instructors and advisors. In the case of both seminars and lectures, this system makes it possible for the instructors to have direct contact with each student. Students, as part of their study, have access to the use sophisticated laboratory equipment for experiments, a very important advantage for carrying out meaningful experiments.
A Wide Variety of Laboratory Equipment
The wide variety of research apparatus such as a TOF-MASS, an imaging FT-IR, electron microscopes, DNA and peptide sequencers, and organism performance measuring system are got ready, and the environment that you can use just as wanted is charm.
