Research Center for Biological Diversity

In 2009, our Graduate School created the Research Center for Biological Diversity and the Specimen Depository.
In the Research Center for Biological Diversity, we study evolutionary processes that created the diversity of species and genes, including the genetic response to environmental changes. This center also collects, preserves and analyzes various samples of animals and plants, including those of endemic species at the Tokai Area, and contributes to the DNA barcoding project internationally. We aim at facilitating the conservation and sustainable use of the biological diversity for the well-being of people in the world and in the Tokai region.
