Doctor’s Degree Program

The standard teaching period of the the Doctor’s Degree Program is 3 years. Students discuss schedule of their research activities with professors and conduct these activities in their own ways. In principle, one professor instructs students; however, considering the nature of information and basic science, instruction performed by multiple professors of the related fields is provided proactively. In lectures, highly specialized lessons, as described in the below table, are provided so that students can see information and basic science from a broader perspective. Students need to obtain more than 20 credits, specifically, more than 4 credits of specialized subjects, 4 credits of lecture subjects of the course they belong to, and 12 credits of special research. Results of research activities will be published or presented in a seminar of an academic unit of graduate school, scientific congresses, and journals of Japan and overseas. Finally, these results are published as a thesis. When it passes the review and students also pass the final examination, they will acquire an academic credential as the Doctor of Science. In the Doctor’s Degree Program, both life information and nature information courses are included in the common curriculum.
